Best Christian Songs for Walking

by | Jun 18, 2021 | Weight Loss

*List just updated!* Does the thought of an intense aerobics class or run around the block intimidate you? I have good news for you–walking is exercise too! And you know what the best motivator is? Music! That’s why I created this list of the best Christian walking songs.

Now, hear me when I say that it takes more than the walk from the couch to the fridge to count as daily exercise. But, if the thought of “working out” sound daunting, know that just adding a twenty-minute walk to your routine, five times a week can be a great start to a healthier lifestyle.

My goal at Compared to Who? is to encourage you to not just focus on getting your body healthy, but to turn your heart and mind towards our Savior.

I sincerely believe that whatever weight loss or health goals you have will be aided by a discipline that prioritizes time spent reading the Bible, praying, and focusing on just how much God loves you.

For this reason, we should view our workout time as worship time.

Listening to Christian walking songs is a great first step in this journey.

Let’s get real, most of us don’t have hours and hours of free time, each day, that we get to spend alone. So, if you can find twenty to thirty minutes to take a brisk walk alone, you might as well make the most of it! Since I’ve turned forty, I’ve found that walking is the healthiest, easiest, and best way for me to clear my mind and exercise. Too much cardio was killing me. After decades in the gym and even teaching Spinning and kickboxing, walking is the only thing that’s good for my body right now!

Here are some of my favorite Christian walking songs with a great tempo. If you are able and want a little bit more of a challenge (or if you are doing a “Couch to 5K” type program), consider adding little bits of jogging or running during the chorus of each song. This type of interval training is great for weight loss and a good way to build up endurance if you aren’t used to running.

This whole Christian walking songs playlist is about 45 minutes long.

This is great! I listen to a “Christian workout music” channel on Pandora that is usually pretty good. I really like the “run during the chorus” suggestion!

Thanks, Natalie! Yes, when I first made this list no one could use their streaming devices away from Wifi! How awesome is it that we can do that now? But, sometimes I find it nice to have some downloaded just in case signal is low! (T-mobile is hit or miss!) 🙂

I was just thinking I needed more Christian songs as I am doing the c25k program. I have some but about 15 minutes shy of the whole workout so thank you. Toby Mac is a really good one he has a few of upbeat songs also. Mandisa, and Danny Gokey.
