I’m so pleased to be a part of this brand new book titled, Everbloom which is available everywhere books are sold, TUESDAY!!
If you think the cover is beautiful, know that the stories on the inside are just as lovely.
What is Everbloom? I’m so glad you asked. It’s a book compiled by the Redbud Writer’s Guild, a group of Christian writers of which I am a part. Each story or poem is about life transformation–about coming to a place where we see our story clearly and bloom–either in spite or because of it. There are more than forty female authors share their words and experiences, along with a prayer for reflection and a writing prompt (should our words inspire you to write your own!).
My contribution is a poem titled, “Just a Little More Beauty, Lord.” It’s a satirical look at how God has transformed my heart (and perspective) in relation to my body image. For years I prayed, asking God to speed up my metabolism and give me just a little more beauty. Yet, he never answered that prayer. I never woke up ten pounds thinner as a result of a zap from heaven. Instead, God showed me that my heart was bent more towards beauty than it was towards Him. In the revelation of my beauty idolatry, God showed me the pathway to new freedom.
This book, Everbloom: Stories of Living Deeply Rooted and Transformed Lives is available tomorrow, everywhere Christian books are sold. I just purchased four copies for myself because I think they make lovely Mother’s Day gifts!
