Are you struggling with body image?
Have you grown weary of hearing the following (unhelpful) sentiments?
“God made you beautiful! Don’t worry about it!”
“Just love yourself! No matter what you look like, self-love is what you need.”
“All women struggle, it’s just something we have to live with. Get used to it.”
“It’s what’s on the inside that counts! Don’t be so vain.”
These statements never helped me! I tried to change my body image but kept hitting a wall.
Truth is, I wasted a lot of time and energy trying to change my body to solve my body image issues.
- I was always planning my next diet and wishing for more time to spend in the gym.
- I desperately wanted to lose weight and look different because I (secretly) thought that would change my life.
- And, I thought real happiness and freedom would come. . . if only the scale would only cooperate.
But, in the last few years God has revealed to me that my problem wasn’t low self-esteem.
No matter how much I tried to love myself and no matter how much I tried to talk myself into accepting my body the way it was, my insecurity and my body image struggles would not go away until I surrendered to him. (I don’t just mean giving them over to him. (Lord knows I’d prayed about my struggles hundreds of times.))
If you want a way out of your body image struggles and are TIRED of obsessing about your weight, compulsively worrying about your appearance, or being stressed, anxious and unhappy about your body…
I don’t want to convince you to love your body more, I want to show you how to find real freedom.
