Looking for great gifts for fitness enthusiasts in your life? Here are some cyber Monday ideas for strengthening your body and your soul!
The Polar version of the “Fitbit”: I’m intrigued by the Fitbit craze but as a spin instructor I can’t get the accuracy I need from a heart rate monitor without a telemetry strap (a strap that reads your heart rate from your chest not from your wrist). Apparently the thing isn’t sure that you are moving when you are sitting on a bike. That’s why I’m asking for the Polar version of the fit bit that comes with a strap. I’ve read the app is only good with Apple products though so android users may want to beware.
Gods at War by Kyle Idelman. Seriously. If you are struggling with your body image, I hope you’ll read this book and then buy one for a friend or family member who is struggling too. I’m a firm believer that modern day idolatry that we regularly overlook is what keeps us from growing in our Christlikeness and keeps us trapped pursuing the wrong things. This is an easy to read but jam-packed full of truth book not to be missed. (Kyle Idelman also wrote “Not a Fan” which is another great read.)
Running Skirt and Capri Combo from SkirtSport.com. So, I kind of love running skirts. I think they are cute. The problem is getting them to look right with capri workout pants when it’s colder outside. This is a great option. Also, for those desiring a slightly more modest approach to conventional yoga pants, this may be a great option. I’ll be honest, these aren’t cheap. At $79 they are well over what I’d usually pay for workout clothing. But, there are pre-Christmas sales online tonight if you want to check them out!
Danskin Now 1/4 Zip Ladies Pullover (from Walmart). Yes, I’m recommending something from Walmart. But, yes, you will not regret getting this for a friend and then grabbing one for yourself. They are only in stores and not available online but last year I snagged two of these (one in pink and one in black) at Walmart for just $6 each and I love them. They have thumb holes to cover most of your hand on colder days and the fabric is warm without being bulky. Overall – a great purchase.
ZAQ Essential Oil Diffuser. I was a little skeptical of the essential oils craze, but now, I’ll admit they’ve won me over. I use many different blends to keep my family well and to restore our health. I am addicted to peppermint (frankly because sometimes just smelling it makes me feel like I’ve eaten a peppermint patty –not to mention the fact that it clears a stuffed up nose and a headache like nobody’s business!). I also use a blend called “Tranquility” to sleep and I diffuse it through this diffuser every night. Did you know that quality sleep plays an important part in your health –both inside and out? This is my favorite diffuser (I’ve tried several) so I’ve purchased this one for family members already. At less than $40 I really feel like it’s a great price for a quality machine.
Stocking Stuffers: Freedom of Self-Forgetfulness by Tim Keller This is a little book that packs in a lot of great toughts and scripture for those struggling with body image and seeking to be spiritually healthier.
Jesus Lives by Sarah Young. From the author of Jesus Calling, this devotional explores just how our savior loves us and desires to be part of our daily lives and struggle. Choose the vegan leather bound edition if you are looking for a pretty gift for a friend or “secret santa” type exchange.
Philips Action Fit Headphones. So, I’m not a headphones snob. I am totally fine with my came-in-the-box pair that accompanied my phone. Most of the time. But, one the rare occassion that I try to work out with my ear buds I usually wish I had something better. I’ve researched a lot of options and there are some fantastic possibilities if you want to spend $150 or more. But, these “action fit” headphones from Philips received great reviews online and only cost $40 on Amazon. Or, see if you can snag a pair on eBay for even less (I just did!).
What’s on your Christmas list?
